Book Review: The Professional Bachelor Dating Guide - How to Exploit Her Inner Psycho

I really wanted to like this book, and hoped that, despite the subtitle "How to Exploit Her Inner Psycho," it might contain beneficial information. Perhaps something that has not yet been touched on in the other dating books lining bookstores' shelves. After all, the author does have a Dr. honorific, and a job description of Sexologist.

As an author myself I found it strange, and certainly uncommon publishing practice, that Dr. Tate had no photo or bio on the book cover. Even Googling him turned up no bio or pictures, just links to his books: The Professional Bachelor Dating Guide and The Hedonist: A World Sex Guide, listing "20 tropical paradises where the girls always say YES."

Anyone with the strong convictions and advice that Dr. Brett Tate does needs to have the balls to let us read his bio and see what he looks like. What kind of "doctor" is he? Where did he go to school?

Despite this, I still read on with an open mind. But even just skimming The Professional Bachelor Dating Guide made me wonder if Dr. Tate was a woman hater. He uses such words to describe woman as, "cock-teasing, guilt tripping, game playing, attention-whoring, gold-digging, emotional terrorists, arrogant wench's, sexless teases, psychos, trailer park sluts, and freeloading cows," just to name a few.

Dr. Tate also has no issues with the word "pussy" and similar language. If you find this language offensive, then for sure this would NOT be your summer beach read.

The Professional Bachelor Dating Guide has nine chapters built around becoming an Alpha Male to get your "Target" (woman). As a "Target" the woman must be a 9 or 10 in the looks department – absolutely no less.

Dr. Tate's "Perfect Girl Profile," describes the Sexy Athletic Tomboy, who has a perfect and chiseled body, and lots of bisexual girlfriends. Her father is a Hugh Hefner-type mentor living in a 20,000-square-foot castle; when you pull into the driveway, a bikini team valets your car. Your girlfriend's hot mom is standing in the castle topless and strokes your crotch.

I know that's exactly what my mom always does with my boyfriends, minus the castle, valet bikini team and Playboy dad.

The final chapter of the book is called "Turnkey Bachelor Party Sex Vacations." Here you can find listings for Blow Job Bars, Thai Soapy Massages, Brothels, Bathhouses, and Bowling. Not quite sure how the bowling fits in.

Similar to The Rules, the last book I reviewed on LoveHowTo, The Professional Bachelor is also very black and white with life directions of what to do and what not to do. For example, on your first date as an Alpha Male Gladiator with your Target, you should go to a crowded place with a high turnover that offers a lot of people-watching. Apparently this will protect you from an embarrassing scene if you get stuck with a cold fish or user.

Dr. Tate also offers advice about what to do if you are just looking for "a sweaty one night stand so you can get some violent jackhammer sex at her place." Oh, and after you've done the deed, he describes how the Alpha Male Gladiator will make a slippery escape from the woman's bedroom window, hop into his Porsche and floor it to the VIP room at the Platinum Club for a nightcap of Lesbian Shower Shows.

It was after reading scenarios like this that I began to wonder if I was reviewing a non-fiction book, a fiction book, or perhaps a new kind of male fairy tale.

Dr. Tate does recommend having an air of mystery, and I do think there is validity to that advice. He also notes accurately that anything you passionately desire requires commitment. There is some good basic, if somewhat obvious, advice in the book: display high value, have high standards, develop credibility-trustworthiness and healthy self-esteem. But with so much woman-bashing for me it felt like going to a discount store where you have to sort though racks, upon racks of garbage to find the great dress.

I talked to a few guys about Dr. Tate's book and the "jackhammer" sex. They all said that men think with their penises. Excellent point.

So in the end I must say I don't agree with a lot of what Dr. Tate has to say, but strangely I found the book entertaining. Also, while I was reading this book at the airport I met a lot of men who where curious about what it was about. Ah yes the ol' penis hard at work. If nothing else you can "mysteriously" read The Professional Bachelor on the train or at the bar and meet new people. I got asked out three times while reading the book.

You never know maybe in a strange twist of fate this book maybe a catalyst to your next great date.
